SYSTEM RESTORE 12-year-old bay gelding, 15.3h   By Regal Classic -- Restored Hope, by He's Bad, System is very smart, very athletic and does not suffer fools gladly. At times, he can be, shall we say, "challenging," and will need an experienced handler. He thrives on routine and attention, and don't forget his peppermints. We suggest a work schedule that will keep his mind and body active. His long and lanky build allows him a long and low movement -- he is a pretty mover. Please call for more information on this interesting fellow!

CAPTAIN NIGHTCAP 7-year-old bay gelding, 16h   Captain is an easy keeper--he was out 24/7 with a shed and a waterproof sheet all winter and actually, needed a diet in February! We started him under Western tack because he just looks like a Western pleasure horse. Stout, strong-built, very pretty way of moving. He does have an old knee injury (obvious to see on his left front), but has not taken a single bad step since his rehab was finished in 2013. He was returned by his adopter due to a new baby (human!) in their family and financial restraints. He was trained for competitive rail riding and confronts all trail obstacles with confidence. This is a fun horse, who will go to an approved adopter (like our others). No Auction Contract with all War Horse adoptions.

POLLARD'S BOY 8-year-old bay gelding, 16.2h   "Poe" is a tall. lanky bay gelding who came to us five weeks after his last race at Mahoning Valley Race Course In Ohio. A stakes winner at two of the Pennsylvania Nursery Stakes, he finished his career in 2016 with seven other victories. He is a kind, patient boy -- we can't wait to start him under saddle.

Why All The Oldtimers, You May Ask...

We call them War Horses, or Our Boys, or sometimes more expressive names, but to us, these veterans of the racing wars are special. For many owners, many trainers, and definitely thousands of racing fans and bettors, Bart, Hermie, Sissy (System Restore), Gimme Credit and Centripital have provided excitement, thrills, and income. It is now time for payback!

War Horses at Rose Bower is committed to a safe retirement for all of our horses--old or young. But always, the hardknocking, aged runners will be treated with the respect, care and the love they so deserve. Consider donating to the care of or monthly sponsoring of one of our retirees.

GREEN TEAM 7-year-old bay gelding, 16h   "Greenie" is an all around good guy: quiet, stout of build, and enjoys people. He was schooled with umbrellas and "scary" noises, etc., as he seems quietly suitable for therapy work. Green Team was adopted in 2014, and then returned this spring due to a death in his adopter's family.Although he was filmed in the documentary produced in 2015 about the 1865 surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Court House, he remains remarkably humble! He has had both Western and English training and is sound for just about any discipline
